⁷ He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle;
    he put the deeps in storehouses.

⁸ At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up;
    the floods stood up in a heap;
    the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.^(A)

¹⁵ You trampled the sea with your horses,
    churning the mighty waters.^(A)

²² Do you not fear me? says the Lord;
    Do you not tremble before me?
I placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,
    a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass;
though the waves toss, they cannot prevail;
    though they roar, they cannot pass over it.^(A)

²⁹ when he assigned to the sea its limit,
    so that the waters might not transgress his command,
when he marked out the foundations of the earth,^(A)

⁶ You cover it with the deep as with a garment;
    the waters stood above the mountains.^(A)
7 At your rebuke they flee;
    at the sound of your thunder they take to flight.
⁸ They rose up to the mountains, ran down to the valleys,
    to the place that you appointed for them.^(B)
9 You set a boundary that they may not pass,
    so that they might not again cover the earth.^(C)
