³ O Lord, you have brought up my soul from ^(A)Sheol;
    you restored me to life from among those who ^(B)go down to the pit.^[a]

28 To you, O Lord, I call;
    ^(A)my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you ^(B)be silent to me,
    I become like those who ^(C)go down to the pit.

^17 (A)Behold, it was for my welfare
    that I had great bitterness;
^(B)but in love you have delivered my life
    from the pit of destruction,
^(C)for you have cast all my sins
    behind your back.
^18 (D)For Sheol does not thank you;
    death does not praise you;
those who go down to the pit do not hope
    for your faithfulness.

^13 (A)For great is your steadfast love toward me;
    you have ^(B)delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

¹⁰ For you will not abandon my soul to ^(A)Sheol,
    ^(B)or let your ^(C)holy one see ^(D)corruption.^[a]

^4 (A)Then I said, ‘I am driven away
    from your sight;
^(B)yet I shall again look
    upon your holy temple.’
^5 (C)The waters closed in over me ^(D)to take my life;
    the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head
⁶     at the roots of the mountains.
I went down to the land
    whose bars closed upon me forever;
yet you brought up my life from the pit,
    O Lord my God.

²⁰ You who have ^(A)made me see many troubles and calamities
    will ^(B)revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
    you will bring me up again.

^13 (A)For you have delivered my soul from death,
    yes, my feet from falling,
^(B)that I may walk before God
    ^(C)in the light of life.
