⁹ Those who are wise understand these things;
    those who are discerning know them.
For the ways of the Lord are right,
    and the upright walk in them,
    but transgressors stumble in them.^(A)

¹⁵ so he shall startle^[a] many nations;
    kings shall shut their mouths because of him,
for that which had not been told them they shall see,
    and that which they had not heard they shall contemplate.^(A)

⁸ Take warning, O Jerusalem,
    or I shall turn from you in disgust
and make you a desolation,
    an uninhabited land.^(A)

¹⁰ Foreigners shall build up your walls,
    and their kings shall minister to you,
for in my wrath I struck you down,
    but in my favor I have had mercy on you.^(A)
11 Your gates shall always be open;
    day and night they shall not be shut,
so that nations shall bring you their wealth,
    with their kings led in procession.^(B)

³ Nations shall come to your light
    and kings to the brightness of your dawn.^(A)

²³ Kings shall be your foster fathers
    and their queens your nursing mothers.
With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you
    and lick the dust of your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
    those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.^(A)

¹ God has taken his place in the divine council;
    in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:^(A)
2 “How long will you judge unjustly
    and show partiality to the wicked? Selah^(B)
3 Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
    maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute.^(C)
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
    deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”^(D)

¹⁰ May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles
    render him tribute;
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
    bring gifts.^(A)
11 May all kings fall down before him,
    all nations give him service.
