³⁴ He trains my hands for war,
    so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.^(A)

¹ Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
    who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle,^(A)

⁹ He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.^(A)

³⁶ You have given me the shield of your salvation,
    and your help^[a] has made me great.

45 Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus,
    whose right hand I have grasped
to subdue nations before him
    and to strip kings of their robes,
to open doors before him—
    and the gates shall not be closed:^(A)

⁶ and a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment
    and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.^(A)
