^5 (A)I called on the Lord in distress;
The Lord answered me and ^(B)set me in a broad place.

¹⁶ “Indeed He would have brought you out of dire distress,
^(A)Into a broad place where there is no restraint;
And ^(B)what is set on your table would be full of ^(C)richness.

^23 (A)The steps of a good man are ^[a]ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.

²¹ “The^(D) Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the ^(E)cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me.
²² For I have ^(F)kept the ways of the Lord,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.
²³ For all His ^(G)judgments were before me;
And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.
²⁴ I was also ^(H)blameless before Him,
And I kept myself from my iniquity.
²⁵ Therefore ^(I)the Lord has ^[a]recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to ^[b]my cleanness in His eyes.

²⁶ “With ^(J)the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;
²⁷ With the pure You will show Yourself pure;
And ^(K)with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
