The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power; 11 put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, 12 for our[a] struggle is not against blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present[b] darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.[c](A)

    are those who hate me without cause;
many are those who would destroy me,

11 When I made sackcloth my clothing,

12 I am the subject of gossip for those who sit in the gate,
    and the drunkards make songs about me.(H)

13 But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
    At an acceptable time, O God,
    in the abundance of your steadfast love, answer me.
With your faithful help(I) 14 rescue me
    from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
    and from the deep waters.(J)
