¹⁴ And he has raised up for his people a horn,^[a](A)
    the praise^(B) of all his faithful servants,^(C)
    of Israel, the people close to his heart.^(D)

Praise the Lord.

⁸ Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,^(A)
    happy is the one who repays you
    according to what you have done to us.

²² “I will rise up^(A) against them,”
    declares the Lord Almighty.
“I will wipe out Babylon’s name^(B) and survivors,
    her offspring and descendants,^(C)”
declares the Lord.
²³ “I will turn her into a place for owls^(D)
    and into swampland;
I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,^(E)”
    declares the Lord Almighty.^(F)

⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood,^(A)
    while my sword devours flesh:^(B)
the blood of the slain and the captives,
    the heads of the enemy leaders.”

⁴³ Rejoice,^(C) you nations, with his people,^[a][b]
    for he will avenge the blood of his servants;^(D)
he will take vengeance on his enemies^(E)
    and make atonement for his land and people.^(F)
