(C)And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day (D)to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, (E)that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that all this assembly may know that (F)the Lord saves not with sword and spear. (G)For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand.”
48 When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49 And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David.

7 I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord,
the praises of the Lord,

that he has granted them according to his compassion,
according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
8 For he said, “Surely they are my people,
children who will not deal falsely.”
And he became their Savior.
9 (B)In all their affliction he was afflicted,[a]
and the angel of his presence saved them;
(C)in his love and in his pity he redeemed them;
(D)he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
10 (E)But they rebelled
(F)and grieved his Holy Spirit;
therefore he turned to be their enemy,
and himself fought against them.

of Moses and his people.[b]
(H)Where is he who brought them up out of the sea
with the shepherds of his flock?
Where is he who put in the midst of them
his Holy Spirit,
12 who caused his glorious arm
to go at the right hand of Moses,

Like a horse in the desert,
they did not stumble.
