⁴ Keep me safe,^(A) Lord, from the hands of the wicked;^(B)
    protect me from the violent,
    who devise ways to trip my feet.

¹¹ May the foot of the proud not come against me,
    nor the hand of the wicked^(A) drive me away.

⁵ My steps have held to your paths;^(A)
    my feet have not stumbled.^(B)

⁸ Keep me^(A) as the apple of your eye;^(B)
    hide me^(C) in the shadow of your wings^(D)
9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
    from my mortal enemies who surround me.^(E)

³² The wicked lie in wait^(A) for the righteous,^(B)
    intent on putting them to death;
³³ but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
    or let them be condemned^(C) when brought to trial.^(D)

³⁴ Hope in the Lord^(E)
    and keep his way.^(F)
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    when the wicked are destroyed,^(G) you will see^(H) it.

³⁵ I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
    flourishing^(I) like a luxuriant native tree,
³⁶ but he soon passed away and was no more;
    though I looked for him, he could not be found.^(J)

³⁷ Consider the blameless,^(K) observe the upright;^(L)
    a future awaits those who seek peace.^[a](M)
38 But all sinners^(N) will be destroyed;^(O)
    there will be no future^[b] for the wicked.^(P)

³⁹ The salvation^(Q) of the righteous comes from the Lord;
    he is their stronghold in time of trouble.^(R)
40 The Lord helps^(S) them and delivers^(T) them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves^(U) them,
    because they take refuge^(V) in him.

⁵ It is not good to be partial to the wicked^(A)
    and so deprive the innocent of justice.^(B)
