⁴⁰ and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,^(A) save yourself!^(B) Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”^{(C) 41} In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. ⁴² “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel!^(D) Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe^(E) in him. ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God rescue him^(F) now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

¹⁵ Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god^(A) will be able to rescue^(B) you from my hand?”

¹⁰ “‘Because you have said, “These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession^(A) of them,” even though I the Lord was there,

¹⁰ “Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive^(A) you when he says, ‘Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.’^{(B) 11} Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?^(C)
