¹⁴ He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.^(A)

¹⁴ For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.^(A)

²¹ She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”^(A)

⁵ You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.^{(A) 6} No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. ⁷ Little children,^[a] let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. ⁸ Everyone who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the works of the devil.^(B)
