⁸ but they ^[a]did not prevail, nor was a place found for ^[b]them in heaven any longer. ⁹ So ^(A)the great dragon was cast out, ^(B)that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, ^(C)who deceives the whole world; ^(D)he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

⁸ We are ^(A)hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not ^(B)forsaken; ^(C)struck down, but not destroyed—

¹⁸ And I also say to you that ^(A)you are Peter, and ^(B)on this rock I will build My church, and ^(C)the gates of Hades shall not ^[a]prevail against it.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written:

^37 (B)Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor ^(C)principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that ^(A)in Me you may have peace. ^(B)In the world you ^[a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, ^(C)I have overcome the world.”
