³ For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest
    on the land allotted to the righteous,
so that the righteous might not stretch out
    their hands to do wrong.^(A)

⁸ Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity,
    and the rod of anger will fail.^(A)

²² The enemy shall not outwit him;
    the wicked shall not humble him.^(A)

⁵ The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked,
    the scepter of rulers,
⁶ that struck down the peoples in wrath
    with unceasing blows,
that ruled the nations in anger
    with unrelenting persecution.^(A)

⁸ By expulsion,^[a] by exile you struggled against them;
    with his fierce blast he removed them in the day of the east wind.^(A)

⁵ Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger—
    the club in their hands is my fury!^(A)

⁹ He will not always accuse,
    nor will he keep his anger forever.^(A)
