⁷ You, Lord, will keep the needy safe^(A)
    and will protect us forever from the wicked,^(B)

⁹ He will guard the feet^(A) of his faithful servants,^(B)
    but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.^(C)

“It is not by strength^(D) that one prevails;

⁸ the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.^(A)

³     I, the Lord, watch over it;
    I water^(A) it continually.
I guard^(B) it day and night
    so that no one may harm^(C) it.

²⁰ The Lord watches over^(A) all who love him,^(B)
    but all the wicked he will destroy.^(C)

⁴⁰ The Lord helps^(A) them and delivers^(B) them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves^(C) them,
    because they take refuge^(D) in him.

²⁸ For the Lord loves the just
    and will not forsake his faithful ones.^(A)

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed^[a];
    the offspring of the wicked will perish.^(B)
