^85 (A)The proud have dug pits for me,
Which is not according to Your law.

⁷ For without cause they have ^(A)hidden their net for me in a pit,
Which they have dug without cause for my life.

^20 (A)Shall evil be repaid for good?
For they have ^(B)dug a pit for my life.
Remember that I ^(C)stood before You
To speak good ^[a]for them,
To turn away Your wrath from them.

⁷⁸ Let the proud ^(A)be ashamed,
For they treated me wrongfully with falsehood;
But I will meditate on Your precepts.

¹⁵ He made a pit and dug it out,
^(A)And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

¹¹ Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

²² Let a cry be heard from their houses,
When You bring a troop suddenly upon them;
For they have dug a pit to take me,
And hidden snares for my feet.

58 Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones?
Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?
² No, in heart you work wickedness;
You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.
