5 You have made my days^(D) a mere handbreadth;
    the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,^(E)
    even those who seem secure.^[a]

⁶ Arise,^(A) Lord, in your anger;
    rise up against the rage of my enemies.^(B)
    Awake,^(C) my God; decree justice.

⁶ “My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,^(A)
    and they come to an end without hope.^(B)
7 Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath;^(C)
    my eyes will never see happiness again.^(D)
8 The eye that now sees me will see me no longer;
    you will look for me, but I will be no more.^(E)
