¹⁵³Look on my suffering^(A) and deliver me,^(B)
    for I have not forgotten^(C) your law.
¹⁵⁴Defend my cause^(D) and redeem me;^(E)
    preserve my life^(F) according to your promise.^(G)
¹⁵⁵Salvation is far from the wicked,
    for they do not seek out^(H) your decrees.
¹⁵⁶Your compassion, Lord, is great;^(I)
    preserve my life^(J) according to your laws.^(K)
¹⁵⁷Many are the foes who persecute me,^(L)
    but I have not turned^(M) from your statutes.

Dispute Over Jesus’ Testimony

¹²When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am^(A) the light of the world.^(B) Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”^(C)

¹³The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”^(D)

¹⁴Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going.^(E) But you have no idea where I come from^(F) or where I am going. ¹⁵You judge by human standards;^(G) I pass judgment on no one.^(H) ¹⁶But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.^(I) ¹⁷In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true.^(J) ¹⁸I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”^(K)

¹⁹Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”

“You do not know me or my Father,”^(L) Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”^(M) ²⁰He spoke these words while teaching^(N) in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put.^(O) Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.^(P)

2 John 7-13

⁷I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ^(A) as coming in the flesh,^(B) have gone out into the world.^(C) Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.^(D) ⁸Watch out that you do not lose what we^[a] have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.^(E) ⁹Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ^(F) does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.^(G) ¹⁰If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them.^(H) ¹¹Anyone who welcomes them shares^(I) in their wicked work.

¹²I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face,^(J) so that our joy may be complete.^(K)

¹³The children of your sister, who is chosen by God,^(L) send their greetings.
