^4 (A)Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust,
And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

^(A)“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes ^(B)flesh his ^[a]strength,
Whose heart departs from the Lord.
⁶ For he shall be ^(C)like a shrub in the desert,
And ^(D)shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
^(E)In a salt land which is not inhabited.

⁷ “Blessed^(F) is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.

⁸ Trust in Him at all times, you people;
^(A)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

^9 (B)Surely men of low degree are ^[a]a vapor,
Men of high degree are a lie;
If they are weighed on the scales,
They are altogether lighter than vapor.

^5 (A)Do not trust in a friend;
Do not put your confidence in a companion;
Guard the doors of your mouth
From her who lies in your ^(B)bosom.
⁶ For ^(C)son dishonors father,
Daughter rises against her mother,
Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.
⁷ Therefore I will look to the Lord;
I will ^(D)wait for the God of my salvation;
My God will hear me.
