24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, (A)You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, 25 who [a]by the mouth of Your servant David have said:

(B)‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’

27 “For (C)truly against (D)Your holy Servant Jesus, (E)whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 28 (F)to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants (G)that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, (H)and that signs and wonders may be done (I)through the name of (J)Your holy Servant Jesus.”

31 And when they had prayed, (K)the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, (L)and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Sharing in All Things

32 Now the multitude of those who believed (M)were of one heart and one soul; (N)neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with (O)great power the apostles gave (P)witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. 14 (B)And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. 15 Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord God of Israel, the One (C)who dwells between the cherubim, (D)You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16 (E)Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; (F)open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, (G)which he has sent to reproach the living God. 17 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were (H)not gods, but (I)the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.

15 Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, (A)good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. (B)And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, (C)we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our (D)God whom we serve is able to (E)deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we (F)worship the gold image which you have set up.”

10 Afterward I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was a secret informer; and he said, “Let us meet together in the house of God, within the [a]temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you; indeed, at night they will come to kill you.”

11 And I said, “Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!” 12 Then I perceived that God had not sent him at all, but that (A)he pronounced this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

13 Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of other lands? (A)Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their lands out of my hand? 14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people from my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my (B)hand? 15 Now therefore, (C)do not let Hezekiah deceive you or persuade you like this, and do not believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?’ ”

Addressing the Sanhedrin

And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, as well as (A)Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, (B)“By what power or by what name have you done this?”

(C)Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, (D)that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, (E)whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the (F)‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 (G)Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Daniel in the Lions’ Den

10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open (A)toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees (B)three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

11 Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. 12 (C)And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king’s decree: “Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?”

The king answered and said, “The thing is true, (D)according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which [a]does not alter.”

13 So they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, (E)who is [b]one of the captives from Judah, (F)does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”

14 And the king, when he heard these words, (G)was greatly displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he [c]labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him. 15 Then these men [d]approached the king, and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is (H)the law of the Medes and Persians that no decree or statute which the king establishes may be changed.”

16 So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” 17 (I)Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, (J)and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.

Daniel Saved from the Lions

18 Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no [e]musicians were brought before him. (K)Also his sleep [f]went from him. 19 Then the (L)king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried out with a [g]lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, (M)has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”

21 Then Daniel said to the king, (N)“O king, live forever! 22 (O)My God sent His angel and (P)shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”

23 Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, (Q)because he believed in his God.

Darius Honors God

24 And the king gave the command, (R)and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, (S)their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

25 (T)Then King Darius wrote:

To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:

Peace be multiplied to you.

26 (U)I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must (V)tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.

(W)For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever;
His kingdom is the one which shall not be (X)destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.
27 He delivers and rescues,
(Y)And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the [h]power of the lions.

28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius (Z)and in the reign of (AA)Cyrus the Persian.

11 And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying, [a]“This man deserves to (A)die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and all the people, saying: “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city with all the words that you have heard. 13 Now therefore, (B)amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you. 14 As for me, here (C)I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and [b]proper to you. 15 But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.”

12 Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, (A)Ahikam the son of Shaphan, [a]Achbor the son of Michaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, 13 “Go, inquire of the Lord for me, for the people and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found; for great is (B)the wrath of the Lord that is aroused against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”
