¹² So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
    they fell down, ^(A)with none to help.

¹¹ Be not ^(A)far from me,
    for trouble is near,
    and there is ^(B)none to help.

^5 (A)Our pursuers are at our necks;
    we are weary; we are given no rest.
⁶ We have given the hand to ^(B)Egypt, and to ^(C)Assyria,
    to get bread enough.

⁵ I looked, but ^(A)there was no one to help;
    I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold;
so my own arm brought me salvation,
    and my wrath upheld me.

^23 (A)and I will put it into the hand of your tormentors,
    ^(B)who have said to you,
    ‘Bow down, that we may pass over’;
and ^(C)you have made your back like the ground
    and like the street for them to pass over.”

^19 (A)These two things have happened to you—
    who will console you?—
devastation and destruction, famine and sword;
    who will comfort you?^[a]
20 (B)Your sons have fainted;
    they lie at the head of every street
    like an ^(C)antelope ^(D)in a net;
they are full of the wrath of the Lord,
    the rebuke of your God.

^4 (A)Look to the ^(B)right and see:
    ^(C)there is none who takes notice of me;
^(D)no refuge remains to me;
    no one cares for my soul.
