    the promise he made, for a thousand generations,

¹⁶ Answer me, Lord, out of the goodness of your love;^(A)
    in your great mercy turn to me.

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies
    and from the hand of all who hate us—
⁷² to show mercy to our ancestors^(A)
    and to remember his holy covenant,^(B)

³² Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
    so great is his unfailing love.^(A)
