¹⁰ and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt. So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.^(A)

²⁰ Now the third day^(A) was Pharaoh’s birthday,^(B) and he gave a feast for all his officials.^(C) He lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker^(D) in the presence of his officials: ²¹ He restored the chief cupbearer^(E) to his position,^(F) so that he once again put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand^(G)—

²⁵ Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same.^(A) God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.^(B)

¹¹ Each of us had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.^{(A) 12} Now a young Hebrew^(B) was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard.^(C) We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretation of his dream.^{(D) 13} And things turned out exactly as he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was impaled.^(E)”

¹⁴ So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon.^(F) When he had shaved^(G) and changed his clothes,^(H) he came before Pharaoh.

¹⁵ Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it.^(I) But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”^(J)

¹⁶ “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”^(K)

³⁰ As for me, this mystery has been revealed^(A) to me, not because I have greater wisdom than anyone else alive, but so that Your Majesty may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.
