Psalm 104:24-30

²⁴How many are your works,^(A) Lord!
    In wisdom you made^(B) them all;
    the earth is full of your creatures.^(C)
²⁵There is the sea,^(D) vast and spacious,
    teeming with creatures beyond number—
    living things both large and small.^(E)
²⁶There the ships^(F) go to and fro,
    and Leviathan,^(G) which you formed to frolic^(H) there.^(I)

²⁷All creatures look to you
    to give them their food^(J) at the proper time.
²⁸When you give it to them,
    they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
    they are satisfied^(K) with good things.
²⁹When you hide your face,^(L)
    they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
    they die and return to the dust.^(M)

The Rich and the Kingdom of God^(A)

¹⁸A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”^(B)

¹⁹“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. ²⁰You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’^[a]”^(C)

²¹“All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.

²²When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor,^(D) and you will have treasure in heaven.^(E) Then come, follow me.”

²³When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. ²⁴Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!^(F) ²⁵Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

²⁶Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”

²⁷Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”^(G)

²⁸Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”^(H)

²⁹“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God ³⁰will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come^(I) eternal life.”^(J)

Jesus Greater Than Moses

3 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters,^(A) who share in the heavenly calling,^(B) fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge^(C) as our apostle and high priest.^(D) ²He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.^(E) ³Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses,^(F) just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. ⁴For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.^(G) ⁵“Moses was faithful as a servant^(H) in all God’s house,”^[a]^(I) bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. ⁶But Christ is faithful as the Son^(J) over God’s house. And we are his house,^(K) if indeed we hold firmly^(L) to our confidence and the hope^(M) in which we glory.
