⁷ The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.

⁹ The eye that saw him will see him no more,
Nor will his place behold him anymore.

¹⁰ But man dies and ^[a]is laid away;
Indeed he ^[b]breathes his last
And where is ^(A)he?

^20 (A)Terrors overtake him like a flood;
A tempest steals him away in the night.
²¹ The east wind carries him away, and he is gone;
It sweeps him out of his place.

^18 (A)If he is destroyed from his place,
Then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’
