¹⁵ As for mortals, their days are like grass;
    they flourish like a flower of the field;^(A)

“All flesh is like grass
    and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
    and the flower falls,^(A)

¹² I, I am he who comforts you;
    why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
    a human being who fades like grass?^(A)

⁶ A voice says, “Cry out!”
    And I said,^[a] “What shall I cry?”
All flesh is grass;
    their constancy is like the flower of the field.^(A)
7 The grass withers; the flower fades,
    [[when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
    surely the people are grass.^(B)

    but the word of our God will stand forever.^(C)

⁵ You sweep them away; they are like a dream,
    like grass that is renewed in the morning;^(A)
6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
    in the evening it fades and withers.^(B)
