In the pride of his face[a] the wicked does not (A)seek him;[b]
    all his thoughts are, (B)“There is no God.”
His ways prosper at all times;
    your judgments are on high, (C)out of his sight;
    as for all his foes, he (D)puffs at them.
He (E)says in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
    throughout all generations I (F)shall not meet adversity.”
(G)His mouth is filled with cursing and (H)deceit and (I)oppression;
    (J)under his tongue are (K)mischief and (L)iniquity.
He sits in ambush in the villages;
    in (M)hiding places he murders the innocent.
His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
    he lurks in ambush like (N)a lion in his (O)thicket;
he (P)lurks that he may seize the poor;
    he seizes the poor when he draws him into his (Q)net.
10 The helpless are crushed, sink down,
    and fall by his might.

The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

14 (A)The (B)fool says in his heart, (C)“There is no God.”
    They are (D)corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
    (E)there is none who does good.

The Lord (F)looks down from heaven on the children of man,
    to see if there are any who understand,[a]
    who (G)seek after God.

They have all turned aside; together they have become (H)corrupt;
    there is none who does good,
    not even one.

Have they no (I)knowledge, all the evildoers
    who (J)eat up my people as they eat bread
    and (K)do not call upon the Lord?

29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, (A)that you believe in him whom (B)he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, (C)“Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 (D)Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, (E)‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is (F)he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, (G)“Sir, give us this bread always.”

35 Jesus said to them, (H)“I am the bread of life; (I)whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 (J)All that (K)the Father gives me will come to me, and (L)whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

19 For (A)the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, (B)“He catches the wise in their craftiness,” 20 and again, (C)“The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him (A)of whom they have never heard?[a] And how are they to hear (B)without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, (C)“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But (D)they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, (E)“Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So (F)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
