⁵⁰ Remember, Lord, how your servant has^[a] been mocked,^(A)
    how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,

²² Rise up,^(A) O God, and defend your cause;
    remember how fools^(B) mock you all day long.

¹⁸ Remember how the enemy has mocked you, Lord,
    how foolish people^(A) have reviled your name.

⁹ for zeal for your house consumes me,^(A)
    and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.^(B)

¹⁰ Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”^(A)

Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge^(B) the outpoured blood^(C) of your servants.
¹¹ May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
    with your strong arm preserve those condemned to die.
¹² Pay back into the laps^(D) of our neighbors seven times^(E)
    the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.

¹⁹ You know how I am scorned,^(A) disgraced and shamed;
    all my enemies are before you.
²⁰ Scorn has broken my heart
    and has left me helpless;
I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
    for comforters,^(B) but I found none.^(C)

¹³ You have made us a reproach^(A) to our neighbors,^(B)
    the scorn^(C) and derision^(D) of those around us.
¹⁴ You have made us a byword^(E) among the nations;
    the peoples shake their heads^(F) at us.
¹⁵ I live in disgrace^(G) all day long,
    and my face is covered with shame^(H)
16 at the taunts^(I) of those who reproach and revile^(J) me,
    because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.^(K)
