²² Rise up,^(A) O God, and defend your cause;
    remember how fools^(B) mock you all day long.

¹⁸ Remember how the enemy has mocked you, Lord,
    how foolish people^(A) have reviled your name.

“For my people have been taken away for nothing,
    and those who rule them mock,^[a]”
declares the Lord.
“And all day long
    my name is constantly blasphemed.^(A)

⁹ Help us,^(A) God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.^(B)
10 Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”^(C)

Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge^(D) the outpoured blood^(E) of your servants.

⁴ To the arrogant^(A) I say, ‘Boast no more,’^(B)
    and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.^[a](C)
5 Do not lift your horns against heaven;
    do not speak so defiantly.^(D)’”
