4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!(F) 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life.(G) 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(H)’”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath;(I) prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds(J) and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded(K) me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.(L)
11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’(M)

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.(I)
33 “Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, shoot an arrow there, come before it with a shield, or cast up a siege ramp against it. 34 By the way that he came, by the same he shall return; he shall not come into this city, says the Lord. 35 For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.”(J)
Sennacherib’s Defeat and Death
36 Then the angel of the Lord set out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians; when morning dawned, they were all dead bodies.(K) 37 Then King Sennacherib of Assyria left, went home, and lived at Nineveh. 38 As he was worshiping in the house of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer killed him with the sword, and they escaped into the land of Ararat. 31 Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah
will take root(AD) below and bear fruit(AE) above.
32 For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant,(AF)
and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.(AG)
The zeal(AH) of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
33 “Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria:
“He will not enter this city(AI)
or shoot an arrow here.
He will not come before it with shield
or build a siege ramp(AJ) against it.
34 By the way that he came he will return;(AK)
he will not enter this city,”
declares the Lord.
35 “I will defend(AL) this city and save it,
for my sake(AM) and for the sake of David(AN) my servant!”
36 Then the angel(AO) of the Lord went out and put to death(AP) a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian(AQ) camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! 37 So Sennacherib(AR) king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh(AS) and stayed there.
38 One day, while he was worshiping in the temple(AT) of his god Nisrok, his sons Adrammelek and Sharezer killed him with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat.(AU) And Esarhaddon(AV) his son succeeded him as king.(AW)
