⁶ This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
    he saved him out of all his troubles.^(A)

¹⁷ The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears^(A) them;
    he delivers them from all their troubles.
¹⁸ The Lord is close^(B) to the brokenhearted^(C)
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

¹⁹ The righteous person may have many troubles,^(D)
    but the Lord delivers him from them all;^(E)

⁴ I call out to the Lord,^(A)
    and he answers me from his holy mountain.^(B)

¹⁷ You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;^(A)
    you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,^(B)

¹⁶ Come and hear,^(A) all you who fear God;
    let me tell^(B) you what he has done for me.
¹⁷ I cried out to him with my mouth;
    his praise was on my tongue.
¹⁸ If I had cherished sin in my heart,
    the Lord would not have listened;^(C)
19 but God has surely listened
    and has heard^(D) my prayer.
²⁰ Praise be to God,
    who has not rejected^(E) my prayer
    or withheld his love from me!
