¹⁰ Let the wicked fall^(A) into their own nets,
    while I pass by in safety.^(B)

⁸ may ruin overtake them by surprise—^(A)
    may the net they hid entangle them,
    may they fall into the pit,^(B) to their ruin.

⁸ The righteous person is rescued from trouble,
    and it falls on the wicked instead.^(A)

⁹ Those who surround me proudly rear their heads;
    may the mischief of their lips engulf them.^(A)

⁷ But God will shoot them with his arrows;
    they will suddenly be struck down.
⁸ He will turn their own tongues against them^(A)
    and bring them to ruin;
    all who see them will shake their heads^(B) in scorn.^(C)
