And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which is opposite Jeshimon, by the road. But David stayed in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul had indeed come.

So Saul went down to the Desert of Ziph, with his three thousand select Israelite troops, to search(A) there for David. Saul made his camp beside the road on the hill of Hakilah(B) facing Jeshimon, but David stayed in the wilderness. When he saw that Saul had followed him there, he sent out scouts and learned that Saul had definitely arrived.
