¹⁶ There are six things which Yahweh hates,
Even seven which are an abomination ^[a]to Him:
^17 (A)Haughty eyes, a ^(B)lying tongue,
And hands that ^(C)shed innocent blood,
¹⁸ A heart that devises ^(D)wicked thoughts,
^(E)Feet that hasten to run to evil,
¹⁹ A ^(F)false witness who breathes out lies,
And one who ^[b](G)spreads strife among brothers.

¹³ The ^(A)fear of Yahweh is to hate evil;
^(B)Pride and arrogance and ^(C)the evil way
And the mouth of ^[a](D)perverted words, I hate.

^8 (A)Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you,
^(B)Reprove a wise man and he will love you.

⁵ A righteous man ^(A)hates a lying word,
But a wicked man ^[a](B)acts odiously and is humiliated.

²⁴ He who ^(A)holds back his ^[a]rod hates his son,
But he who loves him ^[b](B)disciplines him diligently.

¹⁷ A quick-tempered man acts in folly,
And a man of evil schemes is hated.

^17 (A)Better is a ^[a]dish of ^[b]vegetables where there is love
Than a ^(B)fattened ox and hatred in it.
