¹⁶ These six things the Lord hates,
    yes, seven are an abomination to him:
¹⁷         a proud look,
        a lying tongue,
        and hands that shed innocent blood,
¹⁸         a heart that devises wicked imaginations,
        feet that are swift in running to mischief,
¹⁹         a false witness who speaks lies,
        and he who sows discord among brethren.

¹⁷ He who speaks truth shows forth righteousness,
    but a false witness deceit.

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie,
    but a false witness will utter lies.

²⁵ A true witness delivers souls,
    but a deceitful witness speaks lies.

⁵ A false witness will not be unpunished,
    and he who speaks lies will not escape.

⁹ A false witness will not be unpunished,
    and he who speaks lies will perish.

²⁸ An ungodly witness scorns judgment,
    and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.

²⁸ A false witness will perish,
    but a man who listens will speak forever.

¹⁸ A man who bears false witness against his neighbor
    is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow.
