¹⁶ There are six things which Yahweh hates,
Even seven which are an abomination ^[a]to Him:
^17 (A)Haughty eyes, a ^(B)lying tongue,
And hands that ^(C)shed innocent blood,
¹⁸ A heart that devises ^(D)wicked thoughts,
^(E)Feet that hasten to run to evil,
¹⁹ A ^(F)false witness who breathes out lies,
And one who ^[b](G)spreads strife among brothers.

¹⁹ Truthful lips will be established forever,
But a ^(A)lying tongue is only for a moment.
²⁰ Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have gladness.
^21 (B)No misfortune befalls the righteous,
But the wicked are filled with calamity.
^22 (C)Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
But doers of faithfulness are His delight.

⁵ A righteous man ^(A)hates a lying word,
But a wicked man ^[a](B)acts odiously and is humiliated.

²⁵ A truthful witness delivers souls,
But he who ^(A)breathes out lies is deceitful.
