¹² Some people are wicked and no good.
    They go around telling lies.
¹³ They wink with their eyes and signal with their feet.
    They make signs with their fingers.
¹⁴ They make evil plans in their hearts.
    They are always causing trouble.
¹⁵ So trouble will strike them in an instant.
    Suddenly they will be hurt beyond cure.

¹⁰ A wink may get you into trouble.
    And foolish talk will lead to your ruin.

¹¹ Like a fountain of water, the words of a good person give life.
    But the words of the wicked contain nothing but violence.

³ Good people will be guided by honesty.
    But dishonesty will destroy those who are not trustworthy.

³⁰ Someone who winks at you is planning evil.
    And the one who grins at you is about to do something wrong.

¹⁴ The buyer says, “This is bad. It’s no good.”
    Then he goes away and brags about what he bought.

⁶ Don’t eat the food of a selfish person.
    Don’t be greedy for his fine foods.
⁷ A selfish person is always worrying
    about how much the food costs.
He tells you, “Eat and drink.”
    But he doesn’t really mean it.
⁸ So you will feel like throwing up the little bit you have eaten.
    And you will have wasted your kind words.

²³ Kind words from a wicked mind
    are like a shiny coating on a clay pot.

²⁴ A person who hates you may fool you with his words.
    But in his mind he is planning evil.
²⁵ His words are kind, but don’t believe him.
    His mind is full of evil thoughts.
²⁶ He hides his hate with lies.
    But his evil will be plain to everyone.
