³⁰ Men do not despise a thief if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry.

³¹ But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

²² Rob not the poor because he is poor, neither oppress the afflicted at the gate;

²⁴ Whoso robbeth his father or his mother and saith, “It is no transgression,” the same is the companion of a destroyer.

²⁴ Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul; he heareth cursings, but revealeth it not.

⁷ Two things have I required of Thee; deny me them not before I die:

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me only food sufficient for me,

⁹ lest I be full, and deny Thee, and say, “Who is the Lord?”— or lest I be poor and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
