⁵ Trust in the Lord^(A) with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
⁶ in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths^(B) straight.^[a](C)

²⁸ Those who trust in their riches will fall,^(A)
    but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.^(B)

²⁰ Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,^[a](A)
    and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.^(B)

²⁴ A person’s steps are directed^(A) by the Lord.^(B)
    How then can anyone understand their own way?^(C)

²² One who is wise can go up against the city of the mighty^(A)
    and pull down the stronghold in which they trust.

³¹ The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
    but victory rests with the Lord.^(A)

²⁵ The greedy stir up conflict,^(A)
    but those who trust in the Lord^(B) will prosper.

²⁶ Those who trust in themselves are fools,^(C)
    but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.^(D)

²⁵ Fear^(A) of man will prove to be a snare,
    but whoever trusts in the Lord^(B) is kept safe.^(C)
