3 1 The words of God giveth life. 5 Trust in God. 7 Fear him. 9 Honor him. 11 Suffer his correction:  21 To them that follow the word of God, all things shall succeed well.

¹ My son, forget not thou my Law, but let thine heart ^(A)keep my commandments.

² For they shall increase the length of thy ^[a]days and the years of life, and thy prosperity.

¹³ Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

¹⁴ For the merchandise thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof is better than gold.

¹⁵ It is more precious than pearls: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared unto her.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand, ^[a]and in her right hand riches and glory.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasure, and all her paths prosperity.

¹⁸ She is a tree ^[b]of life to them that lay hold on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.

²³ For the ^[a]commandment is a lantern, and instruction a light: and ^[b]corrections for instruction are the way of life,

³⁵ But he that sinneth against me, hurteth his own soul: and all that hate me, love death.

¹⁷ He that regardeth instruction is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.

¹⁹ As righteousness leadeth to life: so he that followeth evil, seeketh his own death.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is as a tree of life, and he that ^[a]winneth souls is wise.

²⁸ Life is in the way of righteousness, and in that pathway there is no death.

⁴ A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardness thereof is the breaking of the mind.

¹⁵ In the light of the king’s countenance is life: and his favor is ^[a]as a cloud of the latter rain.
