Every word of God proves true;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.(A)
Do not add to his words,
    lest he rebuke you, and you be found a liar.(B)

Two things I ask of you;
    do not deny them to me before I die:
Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
    give me neither poverty nor riches;
    feed me with the food that I need,(C)
lest I be full and deny you
    and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or I be poor and steal
    and profane the name of my God.(D)

Entrance into the Temple

Of David. A Psalm.

The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
    the world, and those who live in it,(A)
for he has founded it on the seas
    and established it on the rivers.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
    And who shall stand in his holy place?(B)
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
    who do not lift up their souls to what is false
    and do not swear deceitfully.(C)
They will receive blessing from the Lord
    and vindication from the God of their salvation.(D)
Such is the company of those who seek him,
    who seek the face of the God of Jacob.[a] Selah

The Mission of the Twelve

Then Jesus[a] called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,(A) and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.(B) He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey: no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money—not even an extra tunic.(C) Whatever house you enter, stay there, and leave from there. Wherever they do not welcome you, as you are leaving that town shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”(D) So they departed and went through the villages, bringing the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
