^9 (A)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, ¹⁰ or a ^[a]bag for your journey, or even two ^[b]tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for ^(B)the worker is deserving of his ^[c]support.

⁶ Now I say this: ^(A)the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows ^[a]generously will also reap ^[b]generously. ⁷ Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not ^(B)reluctantly or under compulsion, for ^(C)God loves a cheerful giver.

^6 (A)The one who is taught ^(B)the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. ^7 (C)Do not be deceived, ^(D)God is not mocked; for ^(E)whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. ^8 (F)For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap ^(G)destruction from the flesh, but ^(H)the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. ^9 (I)Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we ^(J)do not become weary. ¹⁰ So then, ^[a](K)while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the ^(L)household of ^(M)the faith.

Concerning Elders

^17 (A)The elders who ^(B)lead well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who ^(C)work hard ^[a]at preaching and teaching. ¹⁸ For the Scripture says, “^(D)You shall not muzzle the ox while it is threshing,” and “^(E)The laborer is worthy of his wages.”
