¹³ ·Happy [Blessed] is the person who finds wisdom,
    the one who ·gets [gains] understanding.
¹⁴ ·Wisdom [^LHer profit] is worth more than silver;
    ·it brings more profit [^Lher yield more] than gold.
¹⁵ Wisdom is more precious than ·rubies [or pearls];
    nothing you could want is equal to it.
¹⁶ ·With [In] her right hand ·wisdom offers you a long life [^Lare length of days],
    and ·with [in] her left hand ·she gives you [are] riches and honor.
¹⁷ ·Wisdom will make your life [^LHer paths are] pleasant
    and ·will bring you [^Lher trails are] peace.
¹⁸ As a tree produces fruit, wisdom gives life to those who use it,
    and everyone who uses it will be happy.

³² “Now, my ·children [^Lsons], listen to me,
    because those who ·follow my ways [guard my path] are happy.
³³ Listen to my ·teaching [instruction], and you will be wise;
    do not ·ignore [avoid] it.
³⁴ Happy are those who listen to me,
    watching at my door every day,
    ·waiting at my open doorway [^Lguarding my doorposts].

¹⁴ People will be rewarded for ·what they say [^Lthe fruit of their mouth],
and they will also be rewarded for ·what they do [^Lthe work of their hands].

²⁰ Those who plan evil are full of ·lies [deceit],
but those who ·plan [advise] peace are happy.

²¹ It is a sin to ·hate [despise] your neighbor,
but being ·kind [gracious] to the needy brings ·happiness [a blessing].

¹³ ·Happiness makes a person smile [^LA joyful heart brightens one’s face],
but ·sadness [^La troubled heart] can break a person’s spirit.

¹⁵ Every day is hard for ·those who suffer [or the poor],
but a happy heart is like a continual feast.

³⁰ Good news ·makes you feel better [^Lrefreshes the bone].
·Your happiness will show in your eyes [^LThe light of the eyes give joy to the heart].

²⁰ Whoever ·listens to what is taught [has insight] will ·succeed [prosper],
and whoever trusts the Lord will be ·happy [blessed].

¹⁵ My child, if ·you are [^Lyour heart is] wise,
    then ·I [^Lmy heart] will be happy.
¹⁶ ·I will be so pleased [^LMy inmost being will rejoice]
    if you speak ·what is right [with integrity].
