⁸Scornful men enflame a city,
but the wise defuse anger.

but the wise turn away wrath.

¹¹The fool vents all his feelings,^[a]
but the wise person keeps them to himself.^[b]

¹¹A fool gives all his breath,^[a]
but the wise holds back in quiet.

²⁶Many seek a ruler’s favor,^[a]
but justice for a man comes from the Lord.

²⁶Many are those who seek the favor^[a] of a ruler,
but from Yahweh one obtains justice.^[b]
