¹²If a ruler listens to falsehood,
all his officials will be wicked.

¹⁹A servant can’t be corrected by words.
Though he understands, yet he will not respond.

¹⁹By mere words slaves are not disciplined,
for though they understand, they will not give heed.

²¹He who pampers his servant from youth
will have him become a son in the end.

²¹A slave pampered from childhood
will come to a bad end.^[a]
