Proverbs 28
King James Version
28 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.
6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.
17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

28 Der Gottlose flieht, auch wenn niemand ihn jagt:
aber der Gerechte ist getrost wie ein junger Löwe.
2 Ein treuloses Land erlebt häufigen Fürstenwechsel;
wo aber verständige Leute sind, die wissen, was sich gehört,
kann einer lange regieren.
3 Ein armer Mann, der die Geringen bedrückt,
ist wie ein Wolkenbruch, der die Ernte wegschwemmt.
4 Die das Gesetz verlassen, loben den Gottlosen;
aber gegen die, welche das Gesetz beobachten, sind sie aufgebracht.
5 Böse Menschen verstehen das Recht nicht;
die aber den Herrn suchen, verstehen alles.
6 Ein Armer, der in seiner Unschuld wandelt,
ist besser als ein Reicher, der krumme Wege geht.
7 Wer das Gesetz beobachtet, ist ein verständiger Sohn;
wer aber mit Schlemmern umgeht, macht seinem Vater Schande.
8 Wer sein Vermögen durch Wucherzinsen vermehrt,
der sammelt es für einen, der sich des Armen erbarmt.
9 Wer sein Ohr abwendet vom Hören aufs Gesetz,
dessen Gebet sogar ist ein Greuel.
10 Wer Redliche auf einen schlimmen Weg führt,
der wird selbst in seine Grube fallen;
aber die Unschuldigen werden Gutes ererben.
11 Ein Reicher kommt sich selbst weise vor;
aber ein Armer, der verständig ist, durchschaut ihn.
12 Wenn die Gerechten triumphieren, so ist die Herrlichkeit groß;
wenn aber die Gottlosen obenauf kommen, so verbirgt man sich.
13 Wer seine Missetaten verheimlicht, dem wird es nicht gelingen;
wer sie aber bekennt und läßt, der wird Barmherzigkeit erlangen.
14 Wohl dem Menschen, der sich immer fürchtet;
wer aber trotzigen Herzens ist, wird in Sünde fallen.
15 Wie ein brüllender Löwe und ein gieriger Bär
ist ein gottloser Herrscher gegen das geringe Volk.
16 Ein unverständiger Fürst erlaubt sich viele Erpressungen;
wer aber ungerechten Gewinn haßt, wird lange regieren.
17 Ein Mensch, der das Blut einer Seele auf dem Gewissen hat,
muß bis zum Grabe flüchtig sein; man halte ihn nicht auf!
18 Wer unsträflich wandelt, wird gerettet;
wer aber verkehrt auf zwei Wegen wandelt, wird auf einem fallen.
19 Wer seinen Acker bebaut, hat reichlich Brot;
wer aber unnützen Sachen nachläuft, der hat reichlich Not.
20 Ein ehrlicher Mann hat viel Segen;
wer aber schnell reich werden will, bleibt nicht unschuldig.
21 Die Person ansehen ist nicht gut;
und sollte ein Mann wegen einem Bissen Brot Unrecht tun?
22 Wer nach Reichtum hastet, wird eifersüchtig
und weiß nicht, daß Mangel über ihn kommen wird.
23 Wer einen andern zurechtweist,
wird hernach mehr Gunst finden als ein Schmeichler.
24 Wer Vater und Mutter bestiehlt und behauptet, das sei keine Sünde,
der ist des Verbrechers Geselle.
25 Aufgeblasenheit verursacht Streit;
wer aber auf den Herrn vertraut, wird reichlich gesättigt.
26 Wer sich auf sein Herz verläßt, ist ein Narr;
wer aber in der Weisheit wandelt, der wird entrinnen.
27 Wer dem Armen gibt, hat keinen Mangel;
wer aber seine Augen verhüllt, wird viel verflucht.
28 Wenn die Gottlosen obenaufkommen, so verbergen sich die Leute;
wenn sie aber umkommen, so mehren sich die Gerechten.

let no one help him.

but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall.
19 (AH)Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread,
but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
20 A faithful man will abound with blessings,
but whoever hastens to be rich (AI)will not go unpunished.
21 To show (AJ)partiality is not good,
but for (AK)a piece of bread a man will do wrong.
22 A (AL)stingy man[d] (AM)hastens after wealth
and does not know that (AN)poverty will come upon him.
23 Whoever (AO)rebukes a man will afterward find more favor

24 Whoever robs his father or his mother
and says, “That is no transgression,”

25 A greedy man (AR)stirs up strife,
but the one who trusts in the Lord will (AS)be enriched.
26 Whoever (AT)trusts in his own mind is a fool,
but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
