⁷A full soul loathes a honeycomb;
but to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.

⁷The sated appetite spurns honey,
but to a ravenous appetite even the bitter is sweet.^(A)

¹⁹Like water reflects a face,
so a man’s heart reflects the man.

¹⁹Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another.

²¹The crucible is for silver,
and the furnace for gold;
but man is refined by his praise.

²¹The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold,
so a person is tested^[a] by being praised.^(A)
