a flattering mouth causes destruction.

¹⁶A leader who lacks understanding
is very oppressive,
but one who hates dishonest profit
prolongs his life.^(A)

¹⁶A prince without understanding is a cruel oppressor,
but one who hates unjust gain will live long.

¹⁰Bloodthirsty men hate an honest person,^(A)
but the upright care about him.^[a]

¹⁰Murderous people hate the innocent,
