¹⁴A person who promises a gift but doesn’t give it
is like clouds and wind that bring no rain.

¹⁴Like clouds and wind when there is no rain,
so too is a man who boasts in a gift of deception.

¹⁸Telling lies about others
is as harmful as hitting them with an ax,
wounding them with a sword,
or shooting them with a sharp arrow.

¹⁸Like a club and sword and a sharp arrow
is a man who bears false witness against his neighbor.
