¹² The eyes of the Lord guard knowledge,
but he ·destroys [frustrates] ·false words [^Lthe words of the untrustworthy/faithless].

¹⁷ Don’t ·be happy [rejoice] when your enemy ·is defeated [^Lfalls];
    don’t let your heart be glad when he ·is overwhelmed [^Lstumbles].
¹⁸ The Lord will notice and ·be displeased [^Lit will be bad in his eyes].
    He may ·not be angry with them anymore [^Lturn his anger from them; Job 31:29; Ps. 35:15–16; Rom. 12:17–21].
