¹³ For ^(A)judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown ^(B)no ^(C)mercy. ^(D)Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Faith Without Works Is Dead^(E)

^14 (F)What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? ^15 (G)If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and ^(H)one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

^14 (A)“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

² For with what ^[a]judgment you judge, you will be judged; ^(A)and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

³⁰ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. ³¹ So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. ³² Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you ^(A)all that debt because you begged me. ³³ Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ ³⁴ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

^35 (B)“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother ^[a]his trespasses.”

⁹ “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

¹¹ “But they refused to heed, ^(D)shrugged^[b] their shoulders, and ^(E)stopped^[c] their ears so that they could not hear. ¹² Yes, they made their ^(F)hearts like flint, ^(G)refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. ^(H)Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. ¹³ Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so ^(I)they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts.

¹⁶ Then you turned around and ^(A)profaned My name, and every one of you brought back his male and female slaves, whom you had set at liberty, at their pleasure, and brought them back into subjection, to be your male and female slaves.’

¹⁷ “Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and every one to his neighbor. ^(B)Behold, I proclaim liberty to you,’ says the Lord—^(C)‘to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine! And I will deliver you to ^(D)trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth.
